Sustainable Energy Director (Advisor to Board)
Dr. Mehmet Onur Doğan is the Sustainable Energy Director of Naphtho Technical Group. He has over 20 years of experience in carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), enhanced coal bed methane (ECBM) hydropower, Li-ion energy storage systems, thermal management of batteries, fuel cells, numerical modeling of multiphase flow and transport processes in porous media and pipe flow.
Dr. Mehmet Onur is an Assistant Professor in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. Before joining the department in 2019, he worked as a Research and Development Manager at Aspilsan Energy Company, Deputy Business Continuity Manager and Design Consultant at Enerjisa Energy Generation Company, and Research Associate at the Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems at the University of Stuttgart. He is also the Vice-Chairperson of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department at METU.
Dr. Mehmet Onur has extensive experience in both academic and private sectors. Some of the major projects he has contributed to include Technical and Economical Evaluation of Optimum Business Model for Injection of Captured Carbon Dioxide from Batman Oil Refinery into the Batı Raman Petroleum Reservoir sponsored by TÜBİTAK; CO2-TRAP Project about Numerical modeling of CO2 Sequestration in Unmineable Coalbeds sponsored by German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and German Research Foundation (DFG)); Development of Numerical Models for Thermal Management of Battery Systems; Coupling of Porous Media Flow with Pipe Flow project sponsored by DFG. He was also a design consultant for 12 hydropower projects for dam safety and improving hydroelectric power plants for secondary frequency control integration to the national electrical grid in Turkey.
He holds a Ph.D. and MSc. degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and a BSc. degree in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.
